The paper presents an attempt to elucidate Abductive model of (scientific) explanation. Some of the positive esemblances between Hempel’s Deductive-Nomological model and Abductive model of explanation are discussed. Nevertheless, it is claimed that the process of hypotheses selection and final result of explanatory seeking is represented by abductive form of explanation. Several logical, semantic and methodological criteria are proposed to make abductive inference explanatory. Such an abductive explanatory model is supposed to repair some of the relevant defects of the D-N model. Moreover, the abductive model is presented as a methodologically fruitfull model of scientific explanation.
