The paper deals with one of the possible approaches to the development of science proposed by J. Piaget and R. Garcia in [5]. The preliminary part of the paper gives a brief characterization of essential ideas of this theory. This is then illustrated in the next two parts concerned with problems of the beginning of algebra and the development of the theory of solvability of algebraic equations. In the final part a short discussion on some problems arising in this theory is given.
