Annotation:

The tradition of skeptical thinking continues in a specific form of so-called neopyrrhonism to the present day. The interested reader will find the contribution of the most prominent figure of this tradition, the German philosopher Odo Marquard. The paper will focus on 1. Marquard's continuation of the tradition of Pyrrhonian skepticism and its further development when applied to modern conditions; 2. the concept of the philosophy of history; 3. the concept of ethics (morality) and anthropology (habitualism, anthropology, homo compensator). On this basis, he will attempt to confront his own positions on the questions posed by modern New Pyrrhonian skepticism: what shapes us; what we can influence; how we understand the political rules that govern society; whether we have the possibility of interpreting them in yet another way; how we move in constant conflict with multiplicity and unity; does polymythia also imply a different and new division of power between individuals and between the individual and the state? Knowledge of the German language is essential.
