Annotation:

The student will address the central question of whether the economic concept of an unregulated free market contains moral aspects or principles that could be applied to the practice of environmental philosophy. Starting from Hegel's conception of the market economy, the student will map the main theories of the market with a concentration on normative (moral) rules. These will then be contrasted with the principles of environmental philosophy. As a result, it will try to answer the question whether the idea of free competition and unregulated market value creation is compatible with the paradigms of environmentalism. Knowledge of English and German is essential.
